Eddie McGoorty

Eddie McGoorty (July 31, 1889 - November 2, 1929) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin was a middleweight boxing champion under the name Edwin Van Dusart who went professional in 1905.

Biography

He was born Edward Martin McGoorty on July 31, 1889. He won the Amateur 130 lb Boxing Championship of Wisconsin in 1904, at the age of 15.[1] A middleweight contender from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, he was briefly recognized as the World Middleweight Champion in Sydney, Australia. His last recorded bout took place in 1922. He died on November 2, 1929.[2] He is buried in Berlin, Wisconsin.
